JAMMU, Jan 21: Secretary to Government, Satish Nehru, today has a detailed review of the working of Jammu Municipal Corporation. Commissioner, JMC Kiran Wattal gave a overview about the functioning of the different sections and apprised the Secretary about the challenges being faced, meeting out the duties and providing the Municipal services to the general public.
The Secretary had a detailed deliberations regarding the deployment of man-power of sanitation wing achievements of target set for user charges, vacancy position etc. The officer instructed for delegation of sanitation work of four zones to different officers of the Corporation so that effective results are achieved by way of maintaining cleanliness in the city. It was further instructed that target for collection of user charges for each of the zone shall be set and shall be ensured that same are achieved during the current financial year.
The site for Solid Waste Management Project was also identified and it was decided that the JDA shall expedite the handing over of the site to Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC). The Secretary also instructed that vigorous efforts be made for seizing of Polythene carry bags within the limits of JMC and the squad formed be activated which shall carry out the campaign during the current week.
The work programme of Engineering section was also reviewed and the concerned Executive engineers were asked to ensure the quality of the work and implementation of schemes within the stipulated time period.
Further, on the instructions of Secretary to Government, Anti Encroachment Drive was taken at Janipur village Paloura where around 4 kanals of land was retrieved. It has been proposed that Matador stand shall be constructed there to decongest the traffic on the Janipur-Ambgrota Road. Besides, other allied facilities like community toilets, passenger sheds shall also be made available for the convenience of general public.
