JAMMU, Jan 21: A meeting of owners of oil tanker transporters gathered here for deliberations regarding the transport trade and discussed the grievances of the transporters specifically the issues of oil tank owners.
In a resolution passed by over 200 members present on the occasion they unanimously adopted to float a new body to take up the issues of the transporters and the new organization has been named as “J & K Oil Tanker Owners Association”,.
The new formation shall be having 15 members Committee and  Sardar  Surjit Singh. Khurana has been elected as its first president.
During the deliberations all the members expressed their serious concern about the deteriorating condition of the Transport Industry and called for an urgent need to sort out the shortcomings and hindrances which are responsible for ruining this important sector that is providing employment opportunity to   thousands of people.
While speaking on the occasion Khurana assured the members that he would leave no stone unturned for the welfare of the tanker owners. The president announced to nominate a new committee in the coming days.  All the members expressed their utmost faith in the presidentship of SS Khurana and assured their fullest cooperation.
Besides, other issues the Association members stressed for continuation of existing tenders (Pol Transportation tenders ) because of havoc flood caused in the month of September last year where the transporters suffered huge losses and are yet not able to come out of the trauma.  They urged the Union Government and Ministry of Petroleum  to extend the present PoL Transportation tender for at least a period of one year. Sardar Harasis Singh coordinated the overall function.
