JAMMU, Jan 25: A delegation of Congress leaders from Jammu and Kashmir met AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi today, headed by Salman Nizami.
In a half hour-long meeting with the Congress vice president, the leaders discussed the current position of the party in the State and sought his guidance to revitalize it in the State. They requested Gandhi to call all the top Congress leaders from the State and hold a meeting to discuss the way forward. “We discussed the possibility of a revamp the Congress State body with Rahul Ji. The vice president has assured us to take a call when the time is right,” said Nizami. He further said “We need to constitute block and district level committees and those who are working on ground should be identified and be adjusted in the PCC. We just wanted to take suggestions from the central leadership to reorganize the Congress so that we can stregenthen the party on the grass root level.
Gandhi on the occasion reiterated to resolve that Congress would continue to serve people of J&K to promote their overall development, peace and progress. He also emphasized that Congress would continue to serve the people of J&K State to its best capacity and continue to fight divisive forces who want to divide people on religion and regional bases.
He advised the party leaders to remain in touch with the people and strengthen the party at grass root level by taking the people on board. He assured the visiting delegation all possible help for the welfare of people of State.
