Lok Adalats held

JAMMU, Jan 29: Lok Adalats were held at Kathua, Majalta and Sopore.
A Lok Adalat was held in the District Court Complex, Kathua under the chairmanship of VC Koul, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority. Two benches were constituted. The first bench was presided over by VC Koul, District and Sessions Judge and assisted by Sonia Gupta, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Kathua. The bench number two comprised of Deepak Sethi, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kathua and Dinesh Gupta, District Mobile Magistrate. Ten cases were settled and Rs 20.05 lakh was ordered to be paid to the claimants.
Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Majalta organized a Lok Adalat-cum-awareness camp under the chairmanship of Renu Dogra, Munsiff (JMIC) Majalta at the Court complex today. In the Lok Adalat, numbers of cases of civil and criminal nature were settled on spot. Bar members Advocate Mohan Lal Gupta and Advocate Amit Sharma and Naib Tehsildar Majalta attended the camp.
A Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Sopore, Masarat Shaheen at Court Complex Sopore. As many as 60 cases both civil and criminal were taken up during the Lok Adalat, out of which a good number of cases including some 10 years long pending cases were settled amicably on the spot.
