By involving National Geography Channel to showcase the State’s tourism potential, the Tourism Department deserves appreciation. The State has tremendous tourism potential which needs to be exploited to its hilt to lure tourists from different corners of the world.
During militancy tourism is one of the most affected sectors. Those associated with tourism virtually came on the streets and had no means of livelihood. It is during last two or three years that tourism activity is regaining its lost sheen. In all the three regions of the State, there is great scope for cultural and pilgrimage tourism. These two aspects should also be showcased through movies, documentaries and print media.
The presence of tourists in the State alone is not sufficient. To make it more sustainable industry, efforts should be made to make required infrastructure available at all tourist spots in the State.
