JAMMU, Jan 31: National Conference (NC) said that the Central leadership is ruling in Jammu and Kashmir and least bothered about the plights of the residents living along border areas of the State.
Addressing a joint press conference, Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Nagrota and provincial president of NC, Devender Singh Rana and MLA Bishnah Dr Kamal Arora said that the border residents are living under fear fiasco due to ceasefire violations by Pakistan.
They added that before Assembly elections in J&K, top brass from BJP played vote bank politics by luring the border dwellers that their issues including permanent rehabilitation and plots at safer places will be mitigated permanently.
They said that after elections, no one from the Centre visited the border areas to redress sufferings of border dwellers, which they have been facing due to cross-border firing by Pakistan.
Rana and Arora further stated that NC president Omar Abdullah always visited the border areas, whenever cross border firing took place. But the Central leaders are least bothered about the plights of the border residents and are busy in Government formation in J&K, they added.
“Why 25 MLAs of BJP did not visit the border areas. Why they don’t took up the issue of cross-border firing with the Central Government. Why they don’t blame anti-nationalists if they claim that they are nationalists”, they questioned.
BJP MLAs are interested in formation of Government in J&K and not interested to resolve the problems of the border residents, they added.
“NC and its soldiers always worked for the benefit of the people and will do the same in future also”, they asserted.
They further stated that NC is going to submit memorandum of demands pertaining to the problems of border residents to Governor NN Vohra in the time to come.
MLA Bishnah demanded permanent rehabilitation of the border residents at safer places vis-à-vis ALC and reservation for border students.
In a reply to a question, Rana said that border firing is trans-national issue and Central leadership should take effective steps to curb the ceasefire violations by Pakistan.
When asked, Rana said that “I opened the cover of the book and BJP leaders trembled. If I open the whole book, BJP leaders will exist no where in the State”.
Among others present were State vice presidents Rattan Lal Gupta and Kashmira Singh, Jugal Mahajan, SS Bunty, Iqbal Wani and Sajjad Shaheen.
