Court rejects Balkrishna’s bail plea

DEHRADUN, July 31:
A court today rejected the bail plea of yoga guru Swami Ramdev’s close aide Balkrishna in a case regarding using fraudulent documents to get a passport.
District and Sessions Judge Raj Krishna  rejected the bail plea of Balkrishna after listening to the arguments of both sides.
Balkrishna’s counsel Pravin refused to comment after coming out of the court.
Patanjali media spokesperson S K Tijarawala said they would take recourse to all available legal remedies to seek justice. He said, “We have full faith in Indian judicial system and are confident that would get jutice at the right time.”
A court had yesterday extended till August 13 the judicial custody of Balkrishna.
The court also issued non-bailable warrants against Naresh Chand Dwivedi, the principal of Shri Radhakrishna Sanskrit Mahavidyalay at Khurja, Buland Shahar in Uttar Pradesh for not presenting himself in connection with the case.
Balkrishna told mediapersons outside the court that the case was part of a conspiracy by the Congress-led Central government against him and Swami Ramdev for lodging a crusade against corruption and black money. “However, I remain undaunted and just like freedom fighters, I am ready to face any consequences. There would be no slackening of our crusade for the cause of the nation and welfare of its people,” he said.
Balkrishna, who was arrested on July 20 from Patanjali Yogpith in Haridwar, had been sent into judicial custody for nine days by the CBI Special court the next day.
Earlier, the High Court had dismissed Balkirshna’s plea for stay against the CBI charge sheet against him and asked him to surrender at the CBI court on July 20.  He, however, failed to appear here after which the CBI special court issued NBW against him and CBI team arrested him at Haridwar.
The CBI has registered a case against Balkrishna for violating section 12 of the Indian Passport Act (knowingly furnishing false documents for getting passport) and under section 420 (cheating) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 468 and 471 of the IPC for mainly procuring fake documents and using it to get the passport.(PTI)
