Two brothers hurt in shell blast

JAMMU, July 31: Two brothers from Amritsar were injured when a shell exploded in a scrap godown at Muthi under the jurisdiction of Domana police station this morning.
Police said the labourers were removing parts of condemned vehicles in the godown of scrap factory of Devinder Gupta, a resident of Satwari when the explosion occurred with a bang. Deafening sound of the blast was heard in surrounding areas.
Police parties led by SDPO Domana Sandeep Mehta and SHO Inspector Vijay Choudhary rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area.
Injured brothers, Ranjeet Kumar and Manjeet Kumar of Amritsar were injured in the blast. They have been admitted in the Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu.
A shell or petrol tank of the vehicles had exploded in the godown, police said, adding the Forensic experts were examining nature of the blast.
Mr Mehta said the owner of scrap factory, Devinder Gupta has been taken into custody.
A case has been registered at Domana police station for further investigations.
