NPSU protests for revision of passenger fares

Jammu, Feb 5:  NPSU activists led by its president Thakur Virender Singh today burnt the effigy of Transport Commissioner in the University Campus in protest against the failure of Transport Department authorities to revise the passenger fares and transport charges.  The students assembled inside the University campus and raised slogans against concerned authority including Commissioner Secretary Transport.
Addressing students on the occasion Thakur Virender Singh said that despite continuous decline in the fuel prices the fare had remained the same and no action had been taken by the concerned authorities to revise the same.  He said that the middle class people as well as the students were suffering heavily due to non reduction of passenger fares despite fall in petrol and diesel prices.
He alleged that there seemed to be an unholy nexus between the transporters and the Government officials who were allowing the transporters to charge heavy fares from passengers. Virender Singh said that the students would be forced to resort to agitational course if their demand was not conceded within the next one week.
