SRINAGAR, Feb 7: All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) said that the seriousness in review of disbursement for flood affected people under Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) in the State by Governor NN Vohra would inculcate some confidence among the people who have lost everything in the devastating flood of last year.
In a statement, APSCC Chairman, Jagmohan Singh Raina said that the Governor has very aptly gauged the mood of the people by holding regular review meetings with the higher ups with respect to the disbursement of relief for flood affected people. Raina said that this was the job of the officers at the divisional level adding that it is better to be late than never.
“We are concerned about our children who have to attend the classes after the winter vacation. Everyone has cleaned their houses and rebuilt and refurnished their business centres that were in the flood zone, but no one has seen to the proper cleaning of Government offices and educational institutions. Mere sprinkling of water cannot clean these affected areas of the resulting fungi and bacteria”, he added.
Raina said that since the flood water was filthy carrying all the dirt and mud it is imperative for the authorities to thoroughly clean the desks, benches, libraries and other utilities at the schools before they are thrown open after the winter vacation.
He appealed to the Governor to look into this matter as well so that the children don’t fall prey to the different diseases and ailments.
Raina expressed concern that several Government employees attending to their offices have been showing symptoms of different infections and demanded that a special team properly trained in cleaning of educational institutions and offices should be brought from outside the State.
He also impressed upon the Directorate of Education to issue mandatory guidelines for all schools so that the cleaning is proper with no chances being taken in this regard.
