Jammu, Feb 8: A Heart Diseases Awareness Camp was organised today at Parmandal in which 200 patients were attended.
The camp was organised under the supervision of Dr. Sushil K. Sharma, Head Department of Cardiology, Government Medical College, Jammu along with a team of Doctors which consisted of Dr. Nasir, Dr. Mohi Kalsotra, Dr. D. Kapoor, Dr. Atul Vij, Dr. Arjun Chib, Dr. Aneeti Pal, Dr Nipun Saproo, Dr Sumir Khajuria and paramedics including Kamal Saini, Joginder Singh, Raghuveer Singh, Tilak Raj, Yograj and volunteers comprising Gaurav Sharma, Lokesh, Sushil Sagotra, Vinay Kumar and G.L. Sharma
In the camp, the patients were given benefits of diagnostic tests like ECG, biochemistry and free medicines were also distributed. Further, the patients were given advise for undergoing advanced tests like echocardiography, coronary angiography and holter monitoring so that their cardiac problems can be attended objectively.
Dr. Sushil Sharma highlighted the role of interventional cardiology in this respect which has revolutionized the management of Cardiac diseases and a high volume of patients are undergoing these interventions at Department of Cardiology, GMC Jammu.
Further, Dr Sharma stressed upon the preventive aspect of cardiac diseases. In this regard people in general are advised to adapt a healthy life style which includes regular walk and physical activities. “Obesity is another factor for which people should be aware because it is a precursor for large number of diseases itself. Further smoking which is very harmful for all vital organs should be shunned. In addition to this uncontrolled blood pressure, uncontrolled diabetes, hyperlipidemia should be checked and appropriate measures should be taken for their control,” he added.
