Kerala in both badminton team finals

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM :  Kerala struggled to get past a fighting Uttar Pradesh 3-2 in one of the two men’s team semi-final matches, while Haryana overcame Maharashtra 3-1 in the other.
The hosts also entered the women’s semi-finals and will take on fancied Telangana in the final. Kerala beat Maharashtra and Telengana beat Goa, both by an identical 2-0 margin. Most of the seeded players came to Kochi directly from Vijayawada, where the 79th Senior National Badminton Championships were held last week.
In the men’s group the eight teams participated are Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Gujarat, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Assam and Kerala.
In the women’s category, Telangana, Haryana, West Bengal, Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Assam and Maharashtra participated. Badminton team events are on a knockout basis. Men’s ties are best-of-five matches and women’s best-of-three. The order of the matches are singles, singles, doubles, singles and doubles in a men’s tie, and singles, doubles and singles in a women’s tie.  Earlier in the men’s quarter finals, Haryana beat Gujarat 3-0, Maharashtra beat Uttarakahand 3-1, Kerala beat Assam 3-2 and Uttar Pradesh beat Delhi 3-1.
And, in the women’s Quarters, Telengana won over Haryana 2-0, Goa beat West Bengal 2-0, Kerala beat Uttar Pradesh 2-0 and Maharashtra beat Assam 2-0.
