Sensitization workshop on SAGY organized

LEH, Feb 10: A one day District Level Sensitization workshop on Saansad Adrash Gram Yojna (SAGY) was held today.
The workshop was organised by J&K Institute of Management, Public Administration & Rural Development. The stakeholders at district level and Khaltsi block headed by SDM, Khalsi Barakat Ali Lone participated in the workshop.
SDM, Khalsi who is also the Incharge officer, SAGY, Leh credited MP Ladakh, Thupstan Chhewang for selecting Hanu Panchayat Halqa as a model gram panchayat to implement the SAGY programme 2015-16. He urged upon the stake holders to take advantage from this workshop and abreast themselves about the programmes being implemented under the programme.
Joint Director, IMPARD P.S Rathore said that the main objective of the workshop is to bring awareness about the role and responsibilities of the stake holders and to develop confidence among the villagers.
Professor, Rural Development IMPARD, Dr.S.N Alam gave a detailed presentation about the SAGY concept, goal, values, objectives, approach, strategy and identification etc.
He said that a village development plan would be prepared for every identified Gram Panchayat with special focus to eliminate poverty. He emphasized that prior to start with the formal plan formulation it is important to create a systematic and conducive environment and social mobilization by fully involving the Gram panchayat.
