MENDHAR, Feb 11: A poor family allegedly dislodged by a local powerful villager from their own land at Bera, has sat on hunger strike at Shahidi Yadgar Mendhar, in protest against the Revenue authorities and local administration.
The family head Fazal Hussain along with his wife and 7 children came to the Mendhar town from his village and sat at Shahidi Yadgar in the town here last evening. He claimed that he has run from pillar to post for justice but nobdy listened to him. He said he had moved to police station, Patwari, Naib Tehsildar, Tehsiladar but no body has helped him. Even once he moved to the DC Poonch who directed SDM and Revenue officials who were deputed to the village but under the influence of the rival Mohd Aziz did nothing.
The poor and hapless villager revealed that he had purchased 12 kanal and 9 marla land from one Mohd Din in 1989. He settled in Rajouri and later died there. Now his son Mohd Aziz, forcibly raised a structure in their land and was claiming that land belonged to them. Despite showing all the revenue records to him and revenue staff, the rival’s powerful family had dislodged them. They threw stones on them and his daughters when they went into the fields. He said that fed up with the system, they have been forced to launch hunger strike. If anything happens to any family member Administration will be responsible, he said.
SDM, Mendhar Romesh Kumar when contacted said that he had sent a team of revenue officials to the family today. The family has been asked to give a written complaint. He assured that after conducting inquiry action will be taken in this regard. But the family refused to vacate the venue till any action is taken.
