MENDHAR, Feb 12: Dozens of mines exploded after forest fire engulfed a larger area along the LoC in Balnoi belt of Mendhar this evening.
Official sources said that fire started from the PoK side and spread to this side of the LoC covering nearly 2-3 sq km area in Sagra and Balnoi. The fire caused some damage to the Army infrastructure but the troops started operation to control fire. Dozens of mines started exploding, causing panic among the villagers of the area till late this evening. No loss of life has been reported but the fire caused extensive damage to the forest and animal life.
