JAMMU, Feb 15: The three days Shivratri Festival at Jamvant Gufa, Peer Kho was inaugurated by the Divisional Commissioner Shantmanu today.
The festival has been organized by the Directorate of Tourism Jammu to promote tourism in the area.
Rajesh Gupta, MLA (elect) Jammu East was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Appreciating the efforts of the department for organizing the first ever Shivratri Festival at Peer Kho, Divisional Commissioner said that such events not only showcase the cultural ethos and heritage of Jammu but also promote tourism in the State.
While speaking on the occasion MLA- Elect Jammu East, Rajesh Gupta lauded the role of Tourism Department for organizing the event to promote tourism. He also appreciated the efforts of district administration for making all best possible arrangements.
Earlier, welcome address was presented by R.K Varma, Director Tourism, Jammu.
Dr. Narupa Rai, Joint Director Tourism, Jammu and Vinakshi Koul, Deputy Director Tourism were also present on the occasion.
A colourful cultural programme based on religious theme was presented by the artists of J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, Jammu.
The other attractions of the festival are ethnic food stalls, fun rides and camel rides.
Various social organizations and representatives of Travel and Trade Industry are also actively participating in the event.
