Army celebrates Raising Day of Corps of Signals

UDHAMPUR, Feb 15: The Army celebrates 105th Anniversary of the Corps of Signals at Headquarters, Northern Command here today.General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Northern Command Lt Gen DS Hooda in his message to the Signallers urged them to continue to excel in their respective roles and further hone their skills to face the challenges of future warfare and live up to their motto of “Teevra Chaukas”. Signallers of Indian Army’s Northern Command have kept the flag of the Corps flying high by ensuring reliable, seamless, responsive real time and secure communications for all operational facets. The Corps remains inspired by its rich traditions, roofed in the present and aligned with its future, enabling the Indian Army’s transformation into a fully network centric force.Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers, men, veterans and their families participated in the celebrations, which further strengthened the bonds of camaraderie, esprit-de-corps and rekindled the sense of pride and belonging to the glorious Corps of Signals. Raised in 1911, the Corps of Signals (Indian Army) has embarked on the 105th year of its glorious journey. The proceedings were initiated by a wreath laying ceremony at Amar Jawan Jyoti, by Lt Gen Nitin Kohli & Colonel Commandant, Corps of Signals, in memory of martyred Signallers, to pay homage for their supreme sacrifice. The Corps of Signals operates at the cutting edge of ICTEC (Information, Communications, Technology, Electronic and Cyber) and has a pan-Indian presence, with several ”pioneering firsts” to its credit. It is universally acknowledged for its yeoman service during the various wars imposed on independent India, participation in humanitarian assistance, disaster relief response, contribution to sports & adventure and nation building activities.
