UDC alleges discrimination with Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Feb 15: Udhampur Development Council has alleged discrimination with the Udhampur district by the successive Governments with respect to developmental activities.
Talking to media persons, here today, the UDC president Anil Paba also charged the successive representatives of the area in Lok Sabha with failure to effectively take up the genuine concerns of Udhampur district.
“These representatives kept masses of Udhampur deprived of their due share and this practice is still going on,” he alleged and gave example of Rail link, which was originally planned to link Udhampur with Pathankot but due to biased Jammu centric politician, Jammu was developed as main Station. Similarly, he added, cement plant and HMT factory meant for Udhampur were also diverted to other parts of State thus depriving Udhampur youth of employment opportunities.
Parvesh Parihar, general secretary UDC, highlighted some other instances of step motherly treatment with the district and lamented that the Udhampur sports stadium was still incomplete for last 20 years because of the reason best known to concerned authorities.
“Recently 15 FM channels were sanctioned for J&K but once again Udhampur was ignored,” he said and appealed the authorities at the helm of affairs to stop discrimination with Udhampur and sanction FM channel, medical college, IIT college, cancer hospital besides full development of Udhampur town at an earliest.
