JAMMU, Feb 15: Two days Social LiabilitiesTowards Disable Persons Awareness Programme-cum-Home Visit was organized by International Volunteer Foundation (IVF) J&K and Red Cross Society District Branch, Jammu, here today.
15 dedicated volunteers from Schools and Colleges participated in the event with enthusiasm and paid visit to Residential School for Blinds at Roop Nagar, Home for Handicapped Persons at Udheywala, Mother Teresa Home for Sick & Dying Destitutes, New Delhi, Sri Rama Krishna Mission, Udheywala and Childline Jammu on the first day today.
The inmates of the Blind School displayed their talent in music, sports and academics and impress volunteers.
The motive of the Programme is to orient the youth of social liabilities towards disable persons through homes/schools visit.
The management briefed the volunteers about working of their respective homes, services provided to the needy and poor people, challenges faced by them in running the homes and problems of the inmates and encouraged the young volunteers to get associated with the noble cause.
The volunteers were provided with an opportunity to see the infrastructure of the homes and interact with the inmates.
Earlier, the volunteers group led by Kiran Kumar Sharma, Social Worker and Chairman International Volunteer Foundation was flagged off by Suresh Sharma from Indian Red Cross Society, District Branch Jammu.
The volunteers who actively participated included Harjot Singh, Ganesh Singh, Anil Kumar, Rohit Kumar, Tara Chand, Shivang Anand, Pratyaksh Khajuria, Jasvir Singh, Dheeraj Kumar, Beer Singh, Joginder Singh, Akash Panotra and Pawan Kumar.
