India hammer Pak, jubilation in Jammu

JAMMU, Feb 15: India started their ICC 2015 World Cup campaign on a winning note as the men-in-blue humbled arch-rivals Pakistan by 76 runs in their first match of the mega sports spectacle today.
Earlier, in the backdrop of a jam-packed stadium, with 50,000 fans making a raucous din, India scored 300 runs after losing seven wickets in their allotted 50 overs, thanks to stylish batsman Virat Kohli’s brilliant century (107 off 126 balls). However, chasing the total, Pakistan managed to score 224 to lose the match by 76 runs.
Earlier, Adelaide Oval was ‘under virtual siege’ as Indian fans took complete control of the city outnumbering their Pakistani counterparts in the marquee clash between the arch-rivals.
Meanwhile, the victory was celebrated with enthusiasm and fervour across the entire county.
Celebration in the City of Temples was unique in many ways. Sound of bursting crackers and Dhol beats, echoed in the atmosphere after India’s emphatic win. A large number of cricket fans danced on the dhol beats and played colours and celebrated the nation’s win in the high voltage match against its counterpart.   Special arrangements were made in different places including lounges which offered special packages for viewing the Indo-Pak match.
Various big size screens were also installed across the city in different places to view the match and people from every caste and creed celebrated India’s victory by distributing sweets, playing colours and bursting crackers.
