JAMMU, Feb 17: The decomposed body of a youth was found today from starting point of Ranbir Canal near Steel Bridge, Akhnoor.
According to a police spokesperson, the youth identified as Rakesh Kumar (22) son of Shambhu Nath, a resident of Reasi, was an auto driver by profession and had been missing since December last year.
His decomposed dead body was spotted this evening by some local people in Ranbir Canal at its starting point near Akhnoor area falling under the limits of Gharota police station. They informed the police, who reached the spot, retrieved the body from the canal and shifted it to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post mortem.
According to the Gharota police, a missing complaint of the youth stands registered at police post Talwara in Reasi district. But when contacted, the Talwara police said though the parents of the deceased youth had approached them but they did not registered a formal missing complaint with them.
