Legislators, business leaders meet Governor

JAMMU, Feb 17: In different meetings, Usman Majeed, MLA, Bandipora and Abdul Rashid Dar, MLA, Sopore met N.N. Vohra, Governor, here at the Raj Bhavan today.
Sheikh Imran, CEO, Sun Silk Industries and Bashir Ahmad Dar, MLA, Kupwara also called on the Governor.
The Legislators apprised the Governor about various problems and issues faced by them which are thwarting growth and development in their respective Constituencies. The issues discussed included the need for priority attention to the severe difficulties faced by the people living in the LoC and along the International Border.
The Governor urged the Legislators to continue sustained pursuit of development issues in their respective Constituencies.
Sheikh Imran raised issues about factors which thwart industrial investments and thereby negate the potentials of employment generation. The Governor agreed to secure urgent status reports on the issues raised by Mr. Imran.
Rakesh Gupta, President, Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) also called on Mr Vohra.
Mr. Gupta discussed with the Governor varied problems faced by the industrialists and traders in the State in general and on account of floods in particular.
He apprised the Governor about the demands of the traders and the industrialists for securing early resolution of several long pending issues which are thwarting rapid industrial growth. He also informed the Governor about the Chamber’s plans for making the business environment more conducive in the State. Mr. Gupta and the Governor also discussed the to-date status of trans LoC trade.
