It is a praiseworthy step to launch a scheme like Beti Padhao Beti Bachaao which is first of its kind in the country. The child sex ratio of the country and especially of J&K State is declining at an alarming rate which is a cause of concern for everybody if thought over deeply. People are often seen in long queues at Kali Mata temple Bahu Fort, Vaishno Devi cave and at other temples but they don’t hesitate to abort the female baby. Everybody wants a mother, sister, wife and even a girl friend but majority of people don’t want to have a daughter. It is quite disgusting and disappointing that such heinous crimes raise its head in a society in which girls and women are worshipped as Goddess Durga. It is now high time to think at individual level about the problem. Besides Govt efforts we must save girl child at any cost by considering ourselves civilized human beings.
