Implement NMSA as per guidelines: Sahu

JAMMU, Feb 18: A Meeting of District Mission Committee (DMC) of Agriculture and Line Departments Jammu district was held today under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Jammu, Ajeet Kumar Sahu to deliberate upon and approve the action plan of Centrally Sponsored Scheme “National Mission For Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA)” under the component Rainfed Area Development (RAD) in respect of Jammu district.
The District Development Commissioner emphasized the need to implement the programme as per guidelines of the Mission in accordance with the potential of the project area and need of the farming community. He said that frequent interactions with the line departments and the concerned farming community must be ensured, besides their mobilization and motivation was essential for proper orientation and capacity building of stake holders which holds the key for success of the programme.
Earlier, the Chief Agriculture Officer Jammu, C.M. Sharma gave a detailed presentation about the Mission objectives, strategy, proposed interventions and the profile of project area of Sarote cluster of Mathwar Block.
It was appraised that the objective of the Mission was to popularize economically viable farming system in the area with need based inclusion of Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Horticulture, Agro-Forestry, Silvia-Pastoral systems, Fisheries, Apiculture, Mushroom Cultivation sectors. Provision of storage godowns, Vermin-Compost Units, Protected Cultivation Units etc. has also been made under the mission.
He assured the chairman that all efforts will be made to implement the programme in field in the letter and spirit.
