NEW DELHI, Feb 18: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) while strongly condemning the Hurriyat Conference for demanding intervention of international community to settle so- called Kashmir issue today said that Kashmir is a settled issue and integral part of India and only dispute exits with Pakistan over the PoK which has forcefully annexed by it during 1947.
KPC which met here today under the chairmanship of its president Kundan Kashmiri strongly advocated for abrogation of Article 370 giving special status to J&K as instead of doing any good to the people of the State it has acted as a barrier between the State and rest of the country.
Kashmiri said the Article 370 is the cause of present mess in the State and it hampered the progress of the State by creating impediments in the way of investors to boost the industrialization, trade and commerce in the State.
He said instead of doing any good to the people of the State the Article 370 has harmed its interests and it was high time to abrogate it by bringing the State at par with other States of the country.
By abrogating the Article 370 the people of the State would also enjoy the fruits of Indian democracy and get other benefits which are available to the people of rest of the country, Kashmiri said. Abrogation of Article 370 would be a befitting tributes to all nationalist forces, Army, security personnel as well as those innocent Kashmiri Pandits who laid down their lives in the valley during the turmoil.
Kashmiri expressed the hope that Union Government would consider the demand and do the needful at the earliest to send a clear message to the anti national forces that Kashmir is a settled issue.
KPC chief also condemned and rejected the suggestion of Hurriyat Conference leaders that international community, especially USA to mediate between India and Pakistan for settling the so- called Kashmir issue. He said that Kashmir is not any dispute and is already settled issue, but need of the hour is to liberate PoK from Pakistan for which a resolution has already been passed in the Indian Parliament.
