JAMMU, Feb 18: All J&K Diploma Engineers Association held a meeting under the chairmanship of its president Upinder Singh.
The members expressed resentment over the recently announced appointment list of Junior Engineers (Civil).
While speaking, Singh condemned the selection criteria adopted for appointment by Service Selection Board whereby only 35 diploma engineers have been selected against 600 degree holders.
He said that as per SRO-180, the selection criteria is 1:3 (1 Degree: 3 Diploma). He criticized the SSB for neglecting the diploma holders for the post, which is meant for diploma engineers.
“One fails to understand the policy of the Government as a large number of polytechnics have been opened at district level. The diploma holders are being neglected despite of the fact that a maximum number of diploma holders have qualified in the written test”, Singh added.
He requested Governor NN Vohra to personally intervene in the matter as the cadre belongs to the poor and rural background.
