JAMMU, Feb 19: Up in arms against their fresh adjustment in far-flung areas, a number of surplus Masters in Jammu held a strong protest demonstration at the Directorate of School Education, here today.
The protesting Masters raised slogans against alleged callous attitude of the Education authorities towards them and demanded their adjustment at suitable places. The protest was organized under the banner of Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum and was led by JKTF State chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani and general secretary Ganesh Khajuria.
While addressing the protesting Masters Abdul Qayoom Wani alleged that the Education authorities were forcing the teaching community to adopt agitational path by issuing adjustment orders without applying mind. “The Masters, who have already served in the far flung areas, have been once again posted in remote and inaccessible pockets of other districts,” he said and demanded immediate withdrawal of the controversial adjustment order.
The Forum leader also questioned legitimacy of adjustment of 165 Master, promoted in February 2014 along with 1100 others. “While all other promoted as Master are still working as Teacher, these 165 promotees were adjusted on pick and choose basis by throwing all norms to the wind. Same is the case with the recent transfers and adjustments of the Lecturers in various disciplines as some blue eyed newly promoted Lecturers were adjusted on pick and choose basis,” Ganesh Khajuria alleged and demanded framing of a rational transfer and adjustment policy in the Education Department.
The Forum threatened to further intensify the agitation if the Education authorities fail to address the genuine grievances of the teaching community.
Others, who addressed the protesting Masters, included Rajinder Gupta, Gopal Singh, Soorat Singh Toofani, Ram Parsad, Subash Sharma, Rajeshwar Singh, Darshan Sharma, Jamat Ali Aga, Ishq Rashid, Manmohan Singh, Shankar Singh, Raj Singh, Gurmeet Singh and Rajesh Slathia.
