Aircel establishing first 3G campus at MIET to train students on latest tech

JAMMU, Feb 19: Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) and leading Telecom service provider, Aircel inked a first-of-its-kind Memorandum-of-Understanding (MoU) to foster collaboration on a wide array of domains in academics as well infrastructure.
The MoU was exchanged between Dr. Ankur Gupta, Joint Director, MIET and Anupam Verma, AVP, J&K Aircel at the MIET campus.
On the occasion, a Mobile tower of Aircel was specially commissioned at MIET to provide 3G internet access and free call facility among all MIET students and faculty. This is a novel industry-academia collaborative model which has been operationalized between MIET and Aircel.
Under the MoU, Aircel will support MIET in building competencies and domain expertise among students and faculty by providing technical know-how and knowledge sharing. Aircel will also organize trainings, visits, summer internships, guest lectures and undertake collaborative CSR activities with MIET to cement this relationship.
Principal, MIET Prof S K Sharma welcomed the high-powered team from Aircel and expressed hope that the MoU will be mutually beneficial for both the parties.
Dignitaries from Aircel present on the occasion included Chanderdeep Pruthi, Circle Marketing Head, Tamal Kanti Sarangi, Circle HR, Head and Suneet Mehra, Devices Head, Jammu.
Prof. Ankur Gupta, Joint Director, MIET expressed gratitude to Aircel officials for coming forward and supporting MIET by providing strategic interventions in helping to raise the skill and knowledge levels of the students.
Commenting on this unique association, Anupam Verma, Cicle Business Head – J&K, Aircel said, “We’re very happy to see the vision and commitment of the MIET, which go beyond the chores of academics to really empower its students. It brings us great pride at Aircel to be an enabler in this space and for the first time India to make a college campus fully 3G-enabled with the state-of-the-art COW (Cell On Wheels)”.
