100 bags of CAPD rice seized

KATHUA, Feb 20: Chadwal Police has seized 100 bags of CAPD rice and the vehicle in which they were loaded at village Chapki in border area of Hiranagar today.
According to police a Cater without number plate which lifted 100 bags of CAPD rice from Hiranagar store of the Department had to drop it at CAPD Depot Mandla village in border area.
But instead of delivering the rice at CAPD Depot Mandla, the driver unloaded the same at a private rice mill in Chapki village falling under the jurisdiction of Rajbagh Police Station.
The police on a tip off raided the rice mill and seized 100 bags of rice and the vehicle. However, the driver of the vehicle who has been identified as Ajay Kumar of the same area managed to escape.
The Chadwal police has registered a case under RPC 407 and Essential Commodities Act. It has started further investigation in the matter. The raid was conducted under the guidelines of SSP Kathua. Police said the involvement of CAPD officials can’t be ruled out.
