BJP Core Group, RSS functionaries discuss Govt formation in J&K

JAMMU, Feb 20: The BJP Core Group members from the State and RSS functionaries held two rounds of talks with senior national leaders of the Party and top Sangh functionaries to discuss the modalities for Government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Party sources, BJP Core Group members and senior RSS functionaries from the State were called in Union Capital today by the Party High Command and national leadership of RSS to seek their opinion on Government formation in J&K with PDP.
While BJP Core Group members earlier held a meeting with Party national general secretary (Org) and an RSS ideologue Ram Lal and another Party general secretary, incharge J&K Ram Madhav, they held another meeting with RSS Seh Sar Karivah Krishan Gopal in which two senior RSS functionaries from J&K were also present.
Sources said that there was a consensus in both the meetings that the process for formation of new political dispensation with PDP should be expedited.
According to sources, to seek a complete feed back from State BJP and RSS leadership, the Core Group of Party and senior Sangh functionaries from the State were summoned to Union Capital to hold detailed discussion with Party High Command and National leaders of RSS so that dialogue process with PDP on Government formation can reach a final stage.
Sources said the members of the Core Group and RSS leaders held two rounds of talks with BJP senior leaders including Party’s national general secretaries Ram Lal and Ram Madhav. This was followed by another meeting with RSS Seh Sar Karivah, Krishan Gopal by Core Group members and Sangh functionaries from the State.
During the meeting, the State BJP leadership insisted that formation of the Government in the State was in the larger interests of the people, sources added.
However, the Core Group members were of the opinion that the High Command should take a decision on drafting the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) by finding a middle path for contentious issues keeping in view the interests of the people of all the three regions, sources said.
They added that good governance and uniform development of all three regions of the State should be the basis of the CMP which was also the poll agenda of the Party.
The meeting among the Core Group members from the State was attended by BJP State president and MP, Jugal Kishore Sharma, former president and MLA Billawar, Dr Nirmal Singh, former president and MP (Rajya Sabha) Shamsher Singh Manhas, BJP organizational general secretary, State, Ashok Koul, BJP general secretaries and MLAs, Bali Bhagat, Kavinder Gupta and Rajeev Jasrotia.
The meeting which was held by the Core Group with RSS Seh Sar Kariwah Krishan Gopal was also attended by RSS Prant Pracharak of J&K, Ramesh Pappa and another senior leader, Parshotam Dadichi.
The State BJP and RSS leaders also gave a complete feed back to Sangh leader and suggested that the Government formation was in the larger interests of the people of the State.
They also stressed on formation of a CMP by giving thrust to good governance and development of the State besides finding a middle path on contentious issues, sources said.
Sources said with a positive response by the State BJP and RSS leadership the BJP-PDP coalition Government will be in place shortly and Party national general secretary incharge J&K Ram Madhav and other senior leaders of the Party will jointly form the draft resolution on CMP with senior PDP leaders.
Sources said that regarding March 2 Legislative Council elections, BJP leaders, will chalk out strategy with PDP leadership to ensure the victory of the candidates of the two parties.
BJP MP (RS), Shamsher Singh Manhas when contacted said that there is no demand from PDP leadership to give in writing that Party will give up its stand on contentious issues and this was only creation of media. He said both parties are working on Government formation to give a stable and workable Government to the people of State and PDP has fully cooperated in this regard.
Meanwhile, when contacted PDP spokesperson, Nayeem Akhtar said that structured dialogue on the Government formation between two parties is in progress and both the parties are working on CMP. He said a democratically elected Government will be formed in the State soon.
