Sikh bodies felicitate Wazir, demand probe

JAMMU, Feb 22: Various Sikh bodies today felicitated former MLC and president State Gurdwara Parbandhak Board T S Wazir after being acquitted by the court and demanded probe and action against the people who allegedly implicated the former legislator in a murder case.
The Sikh Organizations including District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committees, Shiromani Akali Dal (Asr), Sikh Intellectual’s Circle, Sikh Students Federation, Sikh Naujawan Sabha and Sikh Progressive Front felicitated Mr Wazir in a function held here today and expressed solidarity with him. They said Mr Wazir’s acquittal in the concocted murder case has reinforced the faith of common man in the judiciary. They said that Wazir is the strong voice of Sikh community and he was implicated by some vested interests.
They demanded that a probe be ordered and all those who dragged him into the false case be exposed and brought to book. They said an impartial inquiry be held to uncover the disgruntled elements behind the scene. The community members also expressed serious concern over the neglect of the Sikh community. These leaders declared to jointly start awareness campaign in the entire State for religious, social, economic and political rights and empowerment of Sikh community. They also resolved to strive for the legitimate rights of refugees/ displaced persons of 1947 and Minority Commission for the Sikh.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Dalip Singh, J S Mangal, H S Raina, N S Khalsa, Charanjeet Singh Bhola, Janak Singh Sodhi and Surjit Singh.
