NEW DELHI : President Pranab Mukherjee today assured that the government has been according high priority to the interest of farmers against the Opposition’s negative stand on the Land Acquisition Ordinance.
Delivering his inaugural speech at the joint sitting of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha in the Central Hall on the onset of the Budget Session, Mr Mukherjee said, “My government has attached paramount importance to safeguard the interest of farmers affected by land acquisition by taking utmost care for protecting the rights of farmers including their compensation.” Mr Mukherjee said, “The government has attached the highest importance to sustainable socio-economic growth of rural India.
“The government has worked for the welfare of the poor, the marginalised and the vulnerable sections of the society. “Inclusive growth covering the poorest of the poor is my government’s topmost priority.”
