JAMMU, Feb 23: A team of Forest Department team consisting Vinay Khajuira, Range Officer, Kathua, Pankaj Khajuria, Block Officer, HQ, Kathua, Yash Paul, Fgd, Rakesh Sharma, Fgd, Bikram Singh, Fgd. and Deepak Sharma, Fgd. under the supervision of Vijay Kumar Verma, SFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Kathua made surprise visit at three different saw mills of M/s Virdhi Saw Mill, Palli Morh, M/s Pathania Saw Mill, Palli Morh and M/s Jagan Nath Saw Mill, Barnoti.
During the inspection it was observed that these saw mills were illegally functioning and in gross violation of SRO 103 of 2012 Dated: 26/03/2012 owners of these saw mills have failed to produce legal documents.
During the course of operation saw mills were dismantled the machinery was seized and brought at Forest Complex, Kathua. The case has been registered u/s 6(J), and confiscation proceedings have been initiated under Section 26 of J&K Forest Act 1987 (Samvat) against the owners of saw mills who were running these saw mills illegally and also in gross violation of SRO 103 of 2012 Dated: 26/03/2012.
