JAMMU, Feb 23: Literary club of GCW Gandhi Nagar organized a Lecture on the topic “Violence against women”. On this occasion, Dr Kiran Bakshi Principal of the College was the chief guest whereas Prof Shivani Manchanda, was the Resource Person. Dr Vandana Khajuria welcomed the worthy chief Guest and gave an introduction of educating the girl students of the college about the different kinds of violence prevalent in society.
Dr Kiran Bakshi in her address implored students to strengthen the status of women in a society by stiff opposition to the conventions and stereotypical norms that were thrust upon them.
Prof Shivani Manchanda through her PowerPoint presentation sensitized the students with the different issues that had marred the Women’s position and dignity. The Lecture was followed by interactive session where the students shared their own experiences. Amongst others Dr Shruti Sharma, Convener, Literary Clubs, Prof. Seema Mir, Convener, IQAC, Prof. Sujata Slathia, HOD, Economics, Prof. Shabnam Suri, HOD Education, Prof. Jugal Puri, HOD Hindi were present on the occasion.
