JAMMU, Feb 23: An undertrial prisoner at District Jail, Amphalla today died of cardiac arrest at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu.
The deceased has been identified as Tara Chand (69) son of Sant Ram of RS Pura. He was accused in a murder case at RS Pura.
According to Superintendent of the Jail, Harish Kotwal, the deceased complained of severe chest pain this afternoon following which he was rushed to GMCH for treatment.
“However, he died this evening at about 5.30 pm” he said, adding that the body will be handed over to its legal heirs tomorrow after completing all legal formalities.
