JAMMU, Feb 23: A jilted lover today tried to end his life allegedly by jumping into river Tawi in this winter capital of the State.
“A 30-year-old man identified as Deepak son of Vijay Kumar, a resident of Krishna Nagar falling under Nowabad police station this afternoon jumped into river Tawi from the bridge and fell into the shallow waters,” police sources here said.
Some of the locals and eye witnesses rushed to the help of the man, evicted him from river water and then informed the police, who reached the spot and shifted the man, whose both legs got fractured in the incident, to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for treatment.
According to the sources in police, the man who was already divorced, was in love with another woman and when the latter did not accept his love proposal, he became embarrassed and took this extreme step.
The Nowabad police has taken cognizance of the matter.
