NEW DELHI : Government today said there are attempts by different terrorist and extremist groups to carry out violence in different parts of the country but it denied receiving any report on possible hijacking of aircraft.
Minister of State for Home Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary told Lok Sabha that Al-Qaeda leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri last year had announced the establishment of a new wing of the terrorist group namely Al-Qaida in Indian subcontinent and the state aim of the organisation is to establish Shariah law and raise the flag of jihad across the Indian subcontinent.
“As per available intelligence inputs with the government, there are attempts by different terrorist organisations to cause violence in certain parts of the country which are suitably responded by the law enforcement agencies,” he said in response to a written question.
However, Chaudhary said there is no specific input with the central intelligence agencies to suggest hijacking of aircraft, terrorist attacks on schools, temples, ports and cities. (AGENCIES)
