DB’s directive in PIL on relief to flood victims

JAMMU, Feb 24: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by two practicing advocates namely Ajay Bakshi and Tariq Rasool Wani highlighting the inaction of the Government to deal with the situation caused by the unprecedented floods in the State especially in Jammu region, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur today granted time to the State to apprise the court about the assistance provided under Prime Minister Relief Fund.
When the PIL came up for hearing, Advocate Sachin Dogra submitted that even though some relief has been paid under SDRF but nothing has been paid under Prime Minister Relief Fund.
Senior AAG Gagan Basotra, State counsel sought time to get instructions to ascertain as to whether the amount has been received from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund by the State and as and when the relief is received the same will be disbursed to the victims.
