Army provides artificial limbs, mobility equipment to differently abled

POONCH, Feb 24: Continuing the efforts for the betterment of standard of living of the locals, Rashtriya Rifles Battalion under Romeo Force provided artificial limbs and mobility equipment to differently abled of Poonch district.
On the occasion, prominent citizens including Shambu Nath Khajuria, Padamshree, Mumtaz Bhatti, CMO Poonch, KD Maini retd CPO, Sarpanch and the members of local Panchayat were present.
Army spokesman said that medical aid and public health is a basic necessity which is not available to a large segment of the population because they are living in far flung and remote areas which are often not connected by roads.
“The major problems are faced by physically challenged persons, especially the ones who have amputed limbs or their limbs are too weak to even support their own weight”, he said, adding that these persons who have lost their limbs either due to a medical/natural calamity or some terrorist related incident, are most affected due to the lack of mobility equipment.
The aim of this event was to address the woes of these individuals and provide relief to them, he said, adding that the event highlighted the honest commitment and genuine concern of the Army for the locals.
