Forest Department continues drive against illegal saw mills

KATHUA, Feb 24: Continuing the drive against illegal running of saw mills in Kathua Forest Division witout valid licence, a team of Forest Department consisting Vinay Khajuira, Range Officer, Kathua, Pankaj Khajuria, Block Officer, HQ, Kathua, Nitin Khajuria,  Yash Paul, Fgd, Rakesh Sharma, Fgd, Johny Sharma, Fgd. and Deepak Sharma, Fgd. Ajay Prashar Fgd. under the overall supervision of Vijay Kr. Verma, SFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Kathua initiated drive against the illegal sawmills functioning in the Kathua.
During the surprise visit, it was observed that saw mills in M/s Sharma sawmills, Lakhanpur, M/s Tegbahadur bSawmills Hatli Morh, M/s Skylab sports, Hatli Morh were illegally functioning without licence and in gross violation of SRO 103 of 2012 Dated: 26/03/2012.
The owners of said saw mills have failed to produce legal documents. During the course of operation saw mills were dismantled and their machinery was seized and brought at Forest Complex, Kathua.
The case has been registered u/s 6(J), and confiscation proceedings have been initiated under Section 26 of J&K Forest Act 1987 (samvat) against the owners of saw mills who were running these saw mills illegally and also in gross violation of SRO 103 of 2012.
DFO Kathua Vijay K.Verma briefed that illegal activities shall not be tolerated at any cost by the Forest Department and action warranted under law shall be taken against the offenders in future.
