Another death in Valley, toll 8

Srinagar, Feb 24:One more swine flu death took place at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) today taking the death toll due to H1N1 virus in the State to 8.
An official of the SKIMS hospital said here that a patient who was admitted in the hospital died today taking the death toll due to H1N1 in Kashmir to 6. Two – one Jammu and another in Rajouri – died during past one week due to swine flu.
The official said that one patient expired today. The patient was admitted in SKIMS on February 9 as a case of Brain Hemorrhage (SAH) and tested positive for H1N1 also.
The official said that 15 more tested positive for H1N1 in SKIMS taking the H1N1 positive cases in Kashmir to 153.
The official said two H1N1 positive patients are on ventilator while 9 are admitted in isolation ward of the hospital.  “50 Residents/paramedics are receiving vaccination today,” the official said.
The official said that SKIMS has procured 4000 H1N1 masks and is likely to receive 5000- 7000 Tamiflu tablets. “Also the list of rereagents/consumables and equipments urgently required for Influenza Laboratory at SKIMS Soura has been submitted to Principal Secretary to Governor”, the official said.
