DC inaugurates workshop on water management

REASI, Feb 25:  One day workshop on the theme ‘Water Management for Sustainable Development’ was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Reasi, Sushma Chauhan.
The workshop was organized by Communication and Capacity Development Unit (CCDU) in collaboration with Central Water Commission (CWC), Jammu, Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) Jammu and National Development Foundation (NDF).
While speaking on the occasion, District Development Commissioner said that the aim of the programme is to generate awareness among the general public regarding conservation, preservation and judicious use of water. “The demand of water is increasing every year but resources  are shrinking”, she said and urged upon the people to use all innovative water conservation solutions and methods.
She said that such type of workshops play an important role in educating people about the importance of judicious utilization of water and asked Central Ground Water Board and Central Water Commission to take initiatives and develop ground water management and conservation plan for district Reasi.
Dr Narinder Batyal, Executive Director CCDU highlighted the importance of water hygiene and its advantages.
A booklet on “India Water Week” was also released on the occasion.
