Explosives haul in Kishtwar

JAMMU, Feb 25:  Army and police today recovered a large quantity of explosive material and ammunition during searches in Tandar forests of Dachchan area in Kishtwar district.
Official sources said a joint team of Dul based Rashtriya Rifles battalion under Delta Force and local police conducted joint search operation in Tandar forests after getting an information about a dump of explosive material having been hidden there by the militants.
After two days long searches, Army and police recovered the consignment.
Recoveries made from the spot included one 12 bore gun, two UBGL grenades, two Chinese grenades, one HE36 hand grenade, two walky talky sets, one wireless set, seven 7.62 mm SLR rounds, one Pika round, six AK-47 rounds, some utensils and medicines.
The hideout reportedly belonged to the Hizbul Mujahideen outfit.  However, no arrests have been made so far in connection with the recoveries, sources said, adding that Army and police personnel have been conducting searches in the area adjacent to the site of recovery.
Few days back, Army, SSB and police had recovered another consignment of arms, ammunition and explosives in Doda district.
