JAMMU, Feb 26: Dr Sunil Kumar Wanchoo, Assistant Professor in the School of Physics and Director I/c School of Innovation and Community Development, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, delivered three invited talks at his alma mater Mumbai University.
The first talk, titled “Physics of Earthquakes” was organized at the Department of Physics, R D National College, Bandra (W) while the second talk titled “Earth & Earthquakes” was organized at the Department of Physics, G N Khalsa College, Matunga (W). The talks were followed by interactive sessions. Both these colleges are affiliated PG Colleges under Mumbai University, and are fully aided by Government of Maharashtra.
The third and final talk titled “Earth Structure and Earthquake Source studies in J&K Himalayas” was organized at the Department of Physics (Autonomous), University of Mumbai, Santacruz (E).
The talk was attended by the M Sc students, research scholars of the Physics Department besides the eminent scientist like Prof A A Rangwalla, Prof Ravi Manchanda, former head National Baloon facility, TIFR Campus, Hyderabad and faculty members of the Department of Physics.
Dr Wanchoo has completed his Masters and Ph D degrees in Physics from Mumbai University. He happens to be the topper of his batch which passed out in the year 2000 from the same Department.
