JAMMU, Feb 27: Creating a culture of probity and integrity in the public life by all patriotic people would be the sincere and genuine tribute to the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters during the freedom movement from foreign yolk, said BJP State vice-president Col. (retd) Uttam Singh, while addressing a well attended gathering of party activists at a programme organized by Freedom fighter & Martyr Cell to observe the martyr day of Chander Shekhar Azad. This programme was organized at party headquarters by Freedom Fighters & Martyrs Cell Convenor Bharat Bhushan Sharma and was presided over by Col. Uttam Singh.
Col. Uttam Singh said that a galaxy of brave and great men led the freedom struggle against British Raj and never hesitated in sacrificing their lives for the sacred cause. Chander Shekhar Azad was a shining star amongst these great men who by their uncommon conduct and sacrifice have set a unparalleled example of inspiration for generations to come.
State general secretary & MLA Kavinder Gupta, while paying his tributes to the Azad observed that in the modern times because of the tremendous evolution and revolution in Information Technology, we tend to get carried away by modern trends forgetting the civilization and cultural moorings of which the sacrifices made by freedom fighters like Azad are essential part. He further added that the spirit and the determination which is reflected in the life history of Azad should serve as an example for all of us.
Cells Incharge & MLA Sat Sharma (CA) also paid rich tributes to Azad on his 84th martyr anniversary and appealed people to rededicate themselves for the character building of the youth and nation building drawing inspiration from the freedom struggle and the sacrifices made by great men like Azad.
BJP Kashmir Cell National Co-convenor Chander Mohan Sharma presented a short life sketch of Azad, while State office secretary Rajinder Sharma conducted proceedings.
Pt. Atma Ram Sharma, Ramesh Arora (Adv.), Ashok Kaul (Adv.), Lalit Moza, Purnima Sharma, Rajni Sethi, Arun Chhibber, Shilpi Verma, Subash Gupta, Abdul Gani Kohli, N.D. Rajwal, Altaf Thakur, Jaidev Rajwal, Arif Raja, Surinder Choudhary, Vipin Shastri, Praduman Singh, Arvind Gupta, Jagdev Singh, Onkar Singh, Bal Khajuria, Sanjay Baru, Rajesh Gupta, Er. Ashwani Khosla and others also paid their tributes. At another function organized by J&K Freedom Fighters Association at Ambphalla here flower tributes were paid to Chander Shekhar Azad on his martyrdom day today.
The function was organized by president of the Association, Ved Gandotra and it was chaired by the chairman B L Gupta. Kiran Wattal Commissioner JMC was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion the speakers highlighted the role of freedom fighters. They said they have shown a right path to the people and by following their principles we can free the country from corruption and other evils.
Others who were present included Tej Ram Dogra,Capt (retd) Parshotam, Chander Shekhar Sharma, S Harinder Singh and Rohit Bali.
