SRINAGAR, Feb 27: The Rasam-e-Chaharum of NC Stalwart Advocate Sheikh Nazir Ahmed was observed here today. Thousands participated in the congregational Fateh-Khwaani of Sheikh Nazir at his ancestral graveyard at Malik Sahib, Soura, after Friday prayers.
NC working president, Omar Abdullah attended the congregational Fateh-Khwani at Malik Sahib, Soura. Senior NC leaders including NC general secretary, Ali Mohammad Sagar, additional general secretary, Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal, Abdul Rahim Rather, Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan, Mohammad Akbar Lone, provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani and Sharif-ud-Din Shariq attended the congregational Fateh-Khwani at Malik Sahib, Soura.
After the congregational Fateh-Khwani, thousands including former legislators, Ministers and prominent social figures thronged the residence of Dr Farooq Abdullah at Gupkar to offer condolences and pay tributes to NC Stalwart Sheikh Nazir Ahmed.
Omar Abdullah, Ali Mohammad Sagar, Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan, Mohammad Akbar Lone, Sharif-ud-din Shariq and Nasir Aslam Wani spoke on the occassion and recounted the legacy and services of Sheikh Nazir Ahmed towards NC and the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Lauding his values and his unflinching love for his people, the NC leaders spoke about Sheikh Nazir’s sacrifices to uphold the political rights and honor of the people of this State.
On this occasion, Ali Mohammad Sagar presented the formal condolence messages (Taiziyat Naama) on behalf of NC. The Dastaarbandi of NC working president Omar Abdullah was done by Ali Mohammad Sagar and Dastaarbandi of Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal was done by Nasir Aslam Wani on behalf of the party.
While speaking, Ali Mohammad Sagar highlighted the glorious role played by Sheikh Nazir Sahib in the history of this State and said his sacrifices would be remembered for ages to come.
Meanwhile, in observance of Fateh of late NC patron Sheikh Nazir Ahmad, Quran-Khwani was held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan here this morning. Senior leaders and a large number of workers were present on the occasion.
Paying tributes to the departed leader, the speakers highlighted the great role played by Sheikh Nazir in carrying forward the mission of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah. They recalled the strenuous efforts made by the late leader in making the party vibrant at the grass roots level.
They said Sheikh Nazir maintained a close rapport with party workers in all the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and guided them to remain in the forefront in service of the people.
“The best tribute to Sheikh Nazir would be to strengthen the party at grass roots level for facing challenges with renewed vigour”, they added.
As mark of respect to the departed leader, two-minute silence was observed by all present on the occasion.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were Rattan Lal Gupta, State vice-president, Peerzada Ahmad Shah, ex-MLA, Sheikh Bashir Ahmad, ex-MLC, Qazi Jalal Din, ex-MLA , Abdul Gani Veeri, ex-MLA, Haji Mohd Sultan, ex-MLC, Shoket Ahmad Mir, provincial secretary Kashmir, Ch Haroon and Bashir Ahmad Wani, district president Rajouri.
