Woman among five held with 2 kg heroin

JAMMU, Feb 28: Gangyal police and Special Operation Group (SOG) team arrested five persons including a woman along with 2 kilograms of heroin worth Rs 10 crore in the international market in two separate incidents.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, police team from Gangyal police station and SOG team intercepted a Maruti car bearing registration number JK03B-3339 and during checking, police recovered one kg heroin worth Rs 5 crore in the international market.
Two persons were arrested, who has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Abdul Aziz of Kulgam and Daljeet Kour, wife of late Garjan Singh of Ludhiana and the car was seized.
A case under FIR number 44/15 under Section 8/21 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Gangyal and investigation started.
Meanwhile, Gangyal police and SOG team on specific inputs intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK03D-7752 laden with apple boxes.
During checking, police recovered one kilogram of heroin and arrested three persons.
The arrested persons have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmed Ganai (driver), son of Gul Mohammad, Ishfaq Ahmed (conductor), son of Feroz Ahmed and Imran Ahmed (merchant), son of Mahmood Ahmed, all residents of Kulgam. The truck has been seized.
A case under FIR number 45/15 under Section 8/21 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Gangyal and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal Inspector Ajay Jamwal made the arrest under the supervision of SP SOG, officiating SP South, Uday Bhaskar Billa, SDPO South, Harjeet Singh and SSP Jammu, Uttam Chand.
