KATHUA, Mar 3: Two youth were killed after a speedy i-10 car bearing Regd. number JK08D -4665 rammed into a bus with number JKDF-5979 which was parked near Petrol Pump at Barnoti on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway this evening.
The deceased were identified as Kamal Sharma, 30 S/o Hans Raj of Patel Nagar Kathua and Arun S/o Punjab Chand of Indira Colony, Kathua. The duo was on their way to Kathua.
According to police the car was in high speed and it rammed into the bus which was parked on National Highway at Barnoti near petrol pump. Police said that a deafening sound was produced as the car rammed into the bus and people ran helter skelter as to see what has happened. Seeing that the car had rammed into the bus they rushed the spot to rescue its inmates but could not do any thing as the car was fully damaged. Later a team of police and civil officers led by ACR, Kathua, Atul Gupta and SHO Kathua, S S Slathia reached the spot and pressed a GCB into service to pull out the car from he bus and bring the two youth out.
The youth were taken to District Hospital Kathua where doctors declared them as brought dead.
They have been kept into mortuary of DH Kathua for postmortem which will be conducted tomorrow morning. The dead bodies will be handed over to their respective families after Postmortem for last rites.
The Kathua police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of the law.
The people of Kathua have shown their total resentment over the increasing accidents on National Highway especially after its four lanning. They alleged that the vehicles are parked on NH for hours together, which has also been one of the cause of increasing road mishaps and despite bringing the issue into the notice of the authorities they have failed to look into the problem.
