MLAs to submit questions till March 11

JAMMU, Mar 4:  The Legislative Assembly Secretariat today fixed deadline of March 11 for submission of questions, private member’s bills and resolution for first budget session of PDP-Congress coalition Government, starting March 18.
Official sources said soon after Governor NN Vohra issued notification summoning joint session of Legislature at 11.30 am on March 18 for his Address to both Houses, the Assembly Secretariat issued its notification calling upon all MLAs to submit not more than 20 questions-10 each in starred and un-starred categories by on or before March 11.
A notification issued by Assembly Secretary Mohammad Ramzan said the MLAs can also submit not more than two private member’s bills and four private member’s resolutions each by March 11.
The Assembly Secretariat had to relax rules to give just a week to the MLAs to submit questions, bills and resolutions as generally a month’s time has to be given for such an exercise. However, since the new Government has called budget session at such a short notice, the Assembly Secretariat had to contain the deadline for MLAs to submit questions, bills and resolutions, sources said.
As already reported, the Governor will address joint session of the Legislature at 11.30 am on March 18. The election of the Assembly Speaker will be held at 10 am the same day.
The Governor will administer oath to Pro-tem Speaker Mohammad Shafi  Uri, NC MLA from Uri at 12.30 pm on March 13, who will administer oath to newly elected MLAs on March 17.
