JAMMU, Mar 6: J&K Teachers Forum delegation led by its Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani met Education Minister Nayeem Akhtar.
The delegation apprised about the problems faced by the teacher community including delay in the salaries of teachers, master working under SSA and RMSA schemes, which are pending from last six months, mass promotion from 1st primary up to 9th class in Kashmir valley, clear cut transfer policy and framing of new State Education Policy.
Abdul Qayoom Wani also stressed upon the eradication of corruption from the Education Department and emphasized that improvement in the work culture is need of the hour.
He also pointed out the immediate need to regularize the incharge officers of Education Department and removal of pay anomalies of masters and clerks.
The delegation apprised the Minister that the favouritism, corruption and political interference have become main hurdles in improving the quality of education in the J&K.
Minister gave a patient hearing and assured the delegation that their demands will be redressed at the earliest.
Among others present were Ganesh Khajuria, Mohammad Afzal Bhat, Ghulam Rasool Bhat, Jamat Ali Aga, Toofani Singh, Thoker Bashir, Gopal Singh, Rajinder Gupta, Ashok Khadyal, Darshan Sharma, Subash Sharma, Ravinder Singh and Ghulam Nabi Sofi.
